Russisch-in-Rusland is a language program in Saint Petersburg, which offers lessons + accommodation. The program, under Dutch management, runs since 2002. Participants come mainly from the Netherlands and Belgium, although citizens from other countries also can participate (our teachers speak english).

Russisch-in-Rusland offers a complete package. In addition to the language course "Russian for Foreigners" and accommodation, this includes visa support, airport transfers, excursions and practice lessons.

We offer both individual and group courses. Russisch-in-Rusland is a year round program. The course length varies from 2 till 10 weeks. The lessons are given on week days, arrival and departure on Saturday.

Students participate at a discount rate.

Lessons

Russisch-in-Rusland has carefully selected, and enthusiast theachers. All teachers are certified to teach or "Russian as a foreign language". Our teaching methods to study Russian are aimed at reaching an optimal result in a short period. We will issue our own book in the middle of 2008.
 
The lessons are given on the next levels:
- zero (not knowing anything)
- basic (typical level after a beginners course)
- intermediate (typical level if studying Russian once a week for several years)
- advanced (you read and speak decently, know the russian grammar well, but still much possibilities for improvement)
- fluent (you communicate almost perfectly, on specific elements you might want to enforce your knowledge/skills, level of a teacher)

 

We offer both group lessons as private lessons. A private course is the most efficient way to learn Russian, due to its individual attention, the high amount of interaction and feedback, and due to the education material/speed adjusted to the individual. A private course can also be related to a theme, for example medicine, law or business russian.

The advantage of a group course is the social atmosphere during the lessons and a higher interaction between course participants (both during the lessons as at the homework). We work only in small groups (up to 5 people). In this way every person can actively be included in to the lessons. No sleeping in the back of the class!

Depending to intensity of the course, the program differs, we offer:
* Program A: 2-week group course, 20 lessons per week, on the levels zero and basic.
* Program B: 2-week individual course: 16 lessons one-to-one per week, all levels
* Program B PLUS: 2-week individual course: 25 lessons one-to-one per week, all levels
* Program B SUPER: 2-week individual course: 34 lessons one-to-one per week, all levels
* Program C: 6 group lessons per week, length of course 4 weeks or 10 weeks, all levels
* Individual crash courses: 2 or 3 weeks, individual lessons, practice lessons, excursions, all levels
* Group crash courses: 2 weeks, group lessons, practice lessons, excursions, level zero and basic

One russian lesson tuition corresponds to 45 minutes.



Accommodation

Russisch-in-Rusland has its own accommodation for participants. Due to the extra comfort, this is more than just a student apartment. It has a modern interior, every room has TV, DVD, Radio/CD, locker, and (soon) internet access. Shared facilities are a kitchen, toillet and shower, washing machine, closet with DVD's and study books. Extra attention is paid to fire safety. This is the most cheap option, and standard included in the package price.

Saint Petersburg

Saint Petersburg, where our language centre is located, was founded in 1703 by Peter the Great and has currently about 5 million inhabitants. The city is considered as Russia's “Window on Europe”. Saint Petersburg is the most northly situated millions city of the world. 

In the heart of the summer, end of June and beginning of July, during the so called “White Nights”, there is almost continuously day-light. So: when coming for a summer course, you will enjoy this phenomenon, and it will give you extry energy to study! The average temperature in summer is about 20 degrees. In winter the average temperature is minus 10 degrees, but it could easily go down to minus 25 or even colder. 

Till the october-revolution of 1917 Saint-Petersburg was the capital of Russia. During the communist era the city was named Leningrad. In 1991 the population took back its old name. 

Since the 300-year celibration in 2003, the city has made much progress. Economic growth has become visible. Saint Petersburg is known for its high level of education. 

During your study in Saint Petersburg, you have an excellent chance to get to know the Russian culture as Saint Petersburg is the cultural capital of Russia. Many composers (Tshaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Mussorgsky) and writers (Dostoyevsky, Pushkin) were brought by this city. Saint Petersburg has many musea, of which the most famous: the Hermitage. In the Hermitage all famous names are represented: Picasso, Leonardo de Vinci, Van Gogh. The museum also has the biggest Rembrandt-collection of the world. Hermatige is  magnificent, howver don't miss the Russian museum, which shows the real Russian culture.

Besides musea, the city has a large number of theaters. The Mariinsky Theatre is the home-theater of the world-famous Kirov-ballet. In addition a lot of opera’s are performed in the Mariinsky which are worth visiting.

In our summer programs we organise weekly excursions. Our guides know the history of almost every building in the historical centre of the city !
